Yippee! Cassie and Carlie both auditioned for High School District Band a week or so ago. Yesterday we learned that they both made it!
Cassie made third chair and may be the only freshman trombonist. She also made it to the second round All-State audition.
Carlie made fourth out of fifth French horn.
We are very proud of both of them!
Wow–it’s been a busy month this fall. lol Actually, it has been busy this month, and it’s only the 9th!
Between concerts and church events I’ve barely kept my laundry done. At least Alex is coming home this week–maybe I can get him to rake the yard! LOL
Seriously, I hope you take some to time to be with your family and/or friends this holiday season. The older I get the harder it is to believe just how fast time really flies by. I keep thinking and hoping that I’ll be useful someday when…maybe today was the day. Forgive us Lord, for missing the moments you place us in.
We are eager to have Alex home with us for a short while. I think he is eager to be home as well. I mentioned to someone recently about adjustments since he’s gone. For me it’s been the need for only five seats when we go out to eat. It’s just the signalling of a change I don’t think I’m ready for. Alas, Ashley is sure to remind me of just how many gray hairs I have.
So as I peruse the items on this week’s woot-off (www.woot.com) I wish you all a joyous season and a prosperous new year.
You can blog right from Word 2007? I didn’t know that.
Cassie and Carlie have now gotten their feet wet in marching band. They had their first game tonight and marched half of their show for halftime. The Beatles never sounded so good. And the football team won! Woohoo!
In case you’re interested, here’s a link to the band’s web site.
Yes, I know I never submitted a day 5 entry for our Fine Arts trip. Maybe one day I’ll get around to it.
Meanwhile, folks keep asking how Alex is doing. He’s off at Liberty University, and it sounds as if he’s having the time of his life! I am glad for that of course.
I think he said he’s taking five classes, plus he’s in two bands (the marching band and the jazz band.) I know, I know–he’s not a music major. But he does get scholarship money for both. Every little bit helps, right? And hey, the jazz band was his idea.
Here’s a picture of Alex in his dorm room. I think it was taken by a girl. Don’t know how that happened….
Also meanwhile, Sandy and Maw-maw are off in Japan to watch Anna play with Team USA. Last I heard they were up 3-2 in the tournament. (Check www.usabaseball.com for more info.) I hope Pop is doing OK.
